Trainee Field Technician

Looking for a career that gets you outdoors, hands-on and learning from day one? Igne is seeking a Trainee Field Technician to join its Construction Materials Testing Division in Aston Clinton. This is an excellent opportunity for anyone looking to begin a hands-on career in construction materials testing - no prior experience required. A willingness to work outdoors and a full UK driving licence are essential.

Site Labourer

Igne are seeking to appoint Site Labourers to become part of our drilling team. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing and progressive geotechnical contractor based out of one of our Scottish operations: Hamilton, Glasgow or Aberdeen. We offer above industry pay, which includes lots of opportunities for overtime and regular bonuses, along with generous subsistence and inconvenience payments when working away from home.

 

Working with a Lead Driller you would provide support with the safe set up and operation of a variety of drilling rigs for site investigation boreholes. This is a role where full training will be provided so we are really looking for someone that has a full UK driving licence with the right attitude, comfortable working outdoors in all weathers and willing to be away from home. We will invest all the time and energy needed to provide you with the skills you need and a career path for the future.

Wireline Engineer

Principal Geo-environmental Engineer

Igne is seeking a Principal Geo-environmental Engineer to join our expanding Geotechnical Environmental Engineering team based in Walsall. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to take a lead role in delivering technically robust, commercially focused geo-environmental solutions across a diverse range of projects.

 

You will lead the design and implementation of ground investigations, provide expert interpretation and risk assessment, and play a key role in mentoring and developing team members. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and delivery of Preliminary Risk Assessments and Intrusive Ground Investigations, including soil and rock logging, sampling and in-situ testing.
  • Interpret and report on geoenvironmental data, undertaking human health and groundwater risk assessments using industry-standard tools such as LCRM, ConSim, RBCA, SNIFFER, BP RISC and the EA Remedial Targets methodology.
  • Provide clear, commercially focused advice on contaminated land and planning matters, tailored to client and project needs.
  • Develop outline designs and specifications for contaminated land remedial works and manage detailed design of contaminated land earthworks and remediation schemes.
  • Oversee and direct investigation and remediation of mine workings, producing associated completion reports.
  • Manage projects effectively, from tender and proposal preparation through to delivery and client liaison.

Essential Criteria:

  • BSc or BEng in a relevant Geological or Environmental discipline (MSc desirable).

  • Strong understanding of contaminated land legislation and the UK planning regime.

Geo-environmental Engineer

Igne is looking to appoint a Geo-environmental Engineer to join our successful Geo-environmental Division based in Walsall. This is a full time position and will involve travel across the UK to undertake site work. A full UK driving license is essential to be considered for the role.

This varied role involves undertaking environmental due diligence reviews, various aspects of ground engineering including preliminary risk assessments, ground investigations, geotechnical assessments, ground contamination appraisals, remedial options appraisals, remediation strategies and associated validation works.

Igne is seeking a Regional QHSE Manager to join our team based in Hamilton, Glasgow. This is a hands-on role working closely with operational teams to drive best practice and continuous improvement across the business.  The role is full-time and requires travel across Scotland.

Field Technician - Construction Materials Testing

Igne is seeking a Field Technician to join the Construction Materials Testing Division in Aston Clinton. But if you’re picturing a sterile lab and a white coat, this isn’t that kind of role! Instead, you’ll be working hands-on with ground and soil samples, using the latest technology to help our construction sector clients identify cost-effective solutions for their building projects.


This role will involve working out on site obtaining various soil and construction material samples and testing them in-situ.   Consideration will be given to experienced field technicians.  What we do need is for you to have a clean UK driving license and a desire to work outdoors in all weathers.  This is a full-time job with excellent rates of pay and overtime (both in the week and over the weekend), and the opportunity to work in an exciting and growing sector along with excellent career opportunities.

This role will involve working out on site obtaining various soil and construction material samples and testing them in-situ.   Consideration will be given to experienced field technicians.  What we do need is for you to have a clean UK driving license and a desire to work outdoors in all weathers.  This is a full-time job with excellent rates of pay and overtime (both in the week and over the weekend), and the opportunity to work in an exciting and growing sector along with excellent career opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • On-site sampling and testing of various construction materials e.g., soils, aggregates, concrete and asphalt
  • Completion of test sheets and data entry onto tablets
  • Liaising with senior members of staff on work schedules and testing procedures
  • Working within in-house quality assurance systems
  • Maintain high levels of health and safety in line with company policies

Your Qualifications:

  • GCSE Maths and English or equivalent 

Essential

  • Clean UK driving licence
  • You will need good communication skills - both written and verbal
  • Manual handling and physical activity are daily requirements – samples can weigh in excess of 15kg 
  • You must be confident to work in a team environment
  • Self-motivated, proactive and able to organise your own workload

 Desirable

  • Previous experience in a UKAS accredited testing environment in a similar role
  • Knowledge of testing standards and processes
  • CSCS card

 Salary & Benefits:

  • Basic salary is circa £28.000 per annum depending on experience.   Overtime is available after 40 hours and weekends at enhanced rates

Plant Fitter

Do you thrive on diagnosing and fixing complex plant machinery, from rotary drilling rigs to CPT and demining equipment? We are looking for a dedicated Plant Fitter to join our team in the South East/Kent area. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and servicing Igne’s plant machinery to ensure optimal performance and operational efficiency. 

 

As a Plant Fitter you will service and repair plant equipment, diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults, keep accurate maintenance records, and ensure all work meets health and safety standards. The role also involves coordinating maintenance to reduce downtime and providing technical support to the wider team.

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Conduct routine maintenance and servicing of plant according to manufacturer guidelines.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.
  • Perform repairs and replacements of faulty components as needed.
  • Keep accurate records of maintenance activities and equipment status.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations at all times.
  • Collaborate with the operations team to schedule maintenance activities and minimise downtime.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to other team members as required.

 

Requirements:

 

  • Proven experience as a Plant Fitter
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic and electrical systems.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Valid driver's licence
